Dulcolax Tablets are trusted around the world as a gentle, reliable and easy to take treatment for constipation. They are ideal if you are looking for overnight relief in particular. Each tablet contains a precisely measured amount of the active ingredient, bisacodyl, which ensures that Dulcolax Tablets are predictable and reliable. Within 6-12 hours of taking one dose, the colon can be gently stimulated and constipation is soon relieved.
Dulolax Tablets are known to be easy to take, as they have a special comfort coating that ensure the active ingredient is released right where it is needed. The Dulcolax Comfort Coating resists the acidic digestive juices of the stomach and the small intestine and dissolves only when it reaches the alkaline (non-acidic) environment of the colon.

Drug Safety Update: measures for stimulant laxatives.
Stimulant laxatives should only be used if other laxatives (bulk-forming and osmotic) are ineffective. Children younger than 12 years should not use stimulant laxatives without advice from a prescriber and clinical guidance should be followed.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your pharmacist if you are not sure.
For constipation: Adults (including the elderly) and children over 12 years: 1 to 2 tablets at night. • Swallow the tablets whole with water. The tablets should not be chewed or crushed. • Milk, antacids or proton pump inhibitors (medicines which reduce stomach acid) should not be taken within one hour before or after taking Dulcolax Twelve Plus Tablets. This is because they will stop the Dulcolax Twelve Plus Tablets from working properly
If you have not taken Dulcolax Twelve Plus Tablets before, start with one tablet and increase to two if necessary. When your bowel regularity has returned to normal, the dose can usually be stopped.
Caution before taking Dulcolax Tablets:
• If laxatives are needed for more than 5 days in a row or if you persistent abdominal pain, consult your doctor.
• Do not take milk or antacids within one hour of taking Dulcolax tablets.
• Do not take if you have an intestinal obstruction, an inflammatory gastrointestinal disorder, or severe dehydration.
• Do not take if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breast feeding.
• Please note that it is very important to avoid drinking milk or an antacid product at the same time as taking Dulcolax. These liquids are alkaline, and can dissolve the comfort coating too early.
• For the same reason, Dulcolax Tablets should never be crushed or chewed before swallowing, or the comfort coating will not be effective anymore.
• Please always read the leaflet in the package carefully, and ask your health advisor if you have questions.
